Our VP of Engineered Events, Darryl Phillips, was approached by our good friend Adam Brakel, Director of Music for the Diocese of Orlando and St. James Cathedral, as well as an Internationally known Concert and Recording Artist to record his performance of 2 solo organ works. Both pieces, one of which being a premiere, were recorded for the renowned podcast “Pipedreams”. The recording of Adam’s Pipe Organ performance took place at St. James Cathedral, utilizing Protools, AKG mics, a mounting device designed by Darryl himself, and a couple of the tricks he always has up his sleeve. The podcast has been distributed all around the world by American Public Media, the largest station-based public radio organization in the U.S. If you want to listen to the podcast follow this link: https://www.pipedreams.org/episode/2020/12/21/american-organists-christmas. Spoiler alert!! There is a great shoutout to Darryl and the team around the 55 minute mark.
“Darryl and the APAV crew did a great job on my organ recording for this project. The organ is a difficult instrument to record due to its varied dynamics, and pipe arrangement complexities. I’m pleased to have had Darryl do this, and I look forward to other recording ventures in the future of this type here!”
